Two Russian companies announced today, Monday, that they will launch their first mainframe (server) into space orbit by 2022.
“Sputnik” agency reported that the Russian companies specializing in this field “RuVDS” and “Orbital Express” announced that the launch will be in 2022.
Orbital CEO Nikita Bartsevsky said: “There are many projects in the world that are launching mainframe computers (servers), and tens of millions of dollars have been invested in them, and we have the opportunity to become the first to install a central computer in space.”
The company was founded by a group of engineers and specialists with experience in governmental and private Russian space companies.
A Roscosmos launch is supposed to take place along the way within the next year.
