A nutritionist has identified forbidden and other essential foods during the Suhoor meal during Ramadan.

Dr. Rami Salah, a clinical nutrition consultant, said during his hosting of the Ambassador Aziza program on “DMC” channel, that the suhoor meal is no less important than breakfast.

He pointed out that there are two types of people who eat the pre-dawn meal, one of which he eats and then goes to bed, and the other starts his day after the pre-dawn meal and goes to practice his usual work.

He emphasized that both types have a completely different nature of food, but the common denominator between them should be an ample amount of water at separate intervals since breakfast, in addition to yogurt.

He explained that yogurt helps not to feel thirsty, at least until noon, and also prevents any problems in the digestive system, or the bacteria that are beneficial to the colon.

Salah advised those who start their day after the pre-dawn meal to eat protein, especially beans and eggs.

But he said that combining them may cause a problem with digestion in the long run, so it is best not to combine beans and eggs during the pre-dawn meal.

Regarding preparing eggs in the form of “omelette,” a nutritionist advised the use of ghee, not oil, with the addition of pepper and broccoli to give more benefit and give a feeling of satiety for a long time.

He said that it is possible to add cheese to the suhoor as a common ingredient with beans or eggs, especially if it is low-salt cheese or “Quraish”.

For the second type of people, who goes to bed after the pre-dawn meal, Salah advised that his meal, in addition to yogurt, include fruit that contains liquids, especially watermelon (one slice equals 6-7 cubes) and cantaloupe (two slices of 7-8 cubes).

And he warned against eating beans or eggs and sleeping immediately after that, as this will cause poor digestion and a major problem in the digestive system.
