Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood scored goals in the deadly moments as Manchester United completed an impressive uprising and won 3-1 over Tottenham Hotspur and cemented their position in the Premier League semi-finals, while the loser’s hopes of catching the top four on Sunday dwindle.
Cavani scored a goal controversially canceled by the referee in the first half, before Son Heung-min scored Tottenham’s first goal in the 40th minute of the London club’s first shot on target.
Farid equalized from close range an hour before play, then Cavani added the second goal with a header for a volleyball in the 79th minute.
Substitute Greenwood decided the victory of United after he shot hard against goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in the final moments.
Second-placed United reduced the difference with leaders Manchester City to 11 points, and played a lesser game, despite the fact that the most important thing is a nine-point lead over fifth-placed Chelsea, while Tottenham remained seventh, six points behind West Ham, fourth-placed.
United also managed to avenge their 6-1 home defeat by Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg of the season.
