Police were called to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s California mansion nine times in less than a year, official figures reveal.
Harry, Meghan and one year old son Archie moved to Los Angeles from Canada last year, with the growing family settling into a mansion in Montecito last July.
It has now emerged that the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office responded to calls to the home listed as phone requests, alarm activations and property crimes.
The data, obtained under Freedom of Information laws by the PA news agency, was released after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared their security fears while speaking to Oprah Winfrey in their bombshell interview with the TV host, which aired last month.
Police officers were called four times in July last year after Harry and Meghan first moved to Montecito from LA.
One call is listed as a phone request while the others are labelled ‘alarm activations’ and all took place in the early hours of the morning.
A call in August is listed as ‘misc priority incident’, while there was a further alarm in November.
Police officers were then called to the property at 4.13pm on Christmas Eve, after a man was alleged to have trespassed.
Police then returned to Harry and Meghan’s home on Boxing Day at 2.54pm for a call listed under ‘property crimes’.
The sheriff’s office said that Nickolas Brooks, 37, was arrested on a misdemeanour trespassing charge and was later released.
The most recent call was made on 16 February this year and is listed as an ‘alarm activation’.
In their interview with Oprah, the couple spoke about their security fears and pregnant Meghan said that she had written letters to Harry’s family asking for his personal protection officers not to be taken away when they stepped back from royal duties.
