Russia announced today, Monday, April 5, the extension of the penalty for slowing Twitter until next May.

The Russian Communications Supervision Authority said in a statement on its official website: “The penalty for slowing Twitter speed will be extended until May 15, until the banned content is removed.”

And Twitter had announced that it had accelerated the pace of removing banned content in Russia.
Since March, Russia has slowed Twitter, by not removing content it considers illegal, and has threatened to block it entirely.

It takes longer for some users to upload photos and videos.

The Russian Authority said: “Twitter held talks with the Russian authorities on the first of April, which resulted in an agreement to give it more time while acknowledging that the removal of prohibited content has become faster.”

For its part, “Twitter” said it was in constructive talks with Russia.

“It was a fruitful discussion about how we can work together to ensure that reports of such illegal content are dealt with expeditiously,” Twitter added.

The Russian authority said in its statement that Twitter removes illegal content within an average of 81 hours of receiving the request, but that is still much longer than the 24 hours required by law.

Russian authorities accused Twitter and other sites this year of not deleting posts, and Moscow said it had illegally urged children to participate in illegal protests.

A Russian court imposed a fine on the “Twitter” company estimated at 3.3 million Russian rubles (equivalent to 43 thousand dollars), for not deleting illegal information.

The court’s press office statement reads: “The Moscow Court of Tagansky decided to consider Twitter Inc. guilty of an administrative offense under Clause 2 of Article 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Russia, and for this it decided to fine her an amount estimated at 3.3 million Russian rubles, equivalent to About 43 thousand dollars.

The Communications Supervision Authority of Russia, “Roskomnadzor”, had imposed three protocols on Twitter under Section 2 of Article 13.41 of the Administrative Code (failure of the site owner or the owner of the information source to obtain information or a web page).

Under the second paragraph of Article 13.41 of the Administrative Law of Russia, “Violating the procedures for restricting access to information imposes a fine on the violator of up to 4 million rubles (about 53.7 thousand US dollars), and in the event of committing a second violation, the fine increases to one-tenth of the total annual revenue. Of the company.

The Russian Supervisory Authority “Roskomnadzor” released, from February 11 to March 1, a report on publishing content on the Internet that incites minors to participate in illegal acts.

The authority also announced its intention to impose fines for posting prohibited content on the social networks “TikTok”, “In Contact”, “Odnoklasniki”, “Facebook”, “Twitter” and “YouTube”.

A Moscow court sentenced the Russian “Mail Roe Group” media group to pay a fine of 4 million rubles (about 53.7 thousand dollars) for failing to delete content on the “Odnoklasniki” communication site, inviting minors to participate in unauthorized activities.
