Academician Viktor Maliyev, advisor to the director of the Epidemiology Research Center at the Consumer Rights Protection Authority in Russia, announced that the pandemic will not end in the world in 2021, while in Russia it may end in August.

“Of course, the pandemic will end sooner or later. But I think not this year, even though the World Health Organization has the right to announce its end. Because the emerging coronavirus has a seasonal nature, and there is ample evidence for that. This is what we noticed in the summer,” the academic says in an interview with the Russian Novosti news agency “In the past, as infections decreased in Russia and other countries. Therefore, it is not unlikely that the same thing will happen this year as well.
Malayev indicates that countries around the world are witnessing an increase in cases of “Covid-19”, including European countries, in addition to this, the situation in African countries and some countries in Asia is still unclear.

He says, “We have to follow the development of situations around the world. Because it could affect the rate of infections in Russia, especially since the first case of” Covid-19 “in Russia was recorded in Europe.”

According to him, the pandemic will begin to decline when 70% of the world’s population has immunity to the disease. However, it is necessary to monitor the mutations that occur in the virus, to find out whether the existing vaccines are effective against it.

When will the pandemic end in Russia?

Academician Maliyev indicates that the “Covid-19” pandemic may end in Russia by August 2021, because most of the population will have immunity to the disease.

He says, “I think that the infection rate in Russia will decrease in the summer to hundreds or individual cases, but this is not important at the national level. I think that the pandemic will end in Russia by next August. Because the majority will have immunity to the disease. And if we take into account the seasonality of the virus.” It will end in summer. ”

He adds, but it is not unlikely that there will be some increase in injuries in the fall, after people return from their annual leave to their work and residence.
