Jason Statham’s new action thriller takes Black Widow’s release date

Jason Statham’s Wrath of Man has postponed its US release until May 7, filling a slot left vacant by Marvel’s eagerly-anticipated outing Black Widow.

The Stath’s new action thriller was initially due to reach cinemas on April 23, just one week after Mortal Kombat.

But when the Scarlett Johansson superhero movie announced that it was moving to a July date in order to ensure as many venues around the world could facilitate its big screen debut, Wrath of Man shifted back too.

Confirming the new date, the movie released a poster, which sees a suited-and-booted Statham nursing his bloodied hands, and revealed that its first trailer is scheduled to be unveiled on Monday (March 29).

Inspired by the 2004 French outing Le Convoyeur and directed by The Gentlemen’s Guy Ritchie, Wrath of Man follows H (Statham), a cold and mysterious man who lands a job as an armoured truck driver. The company’s weekly task? Carting millions of dollars around Los Angeles every week.

Soon after he starts though, H gets ideas about what he could do with the money and eventually invents his own set of ulterior motives. Chaos, as we’ve come to expect from a Statham-fronted picture, ensues.

The Boys’ Laz Alonso, Jeffrey Donovan, Scott Eastwood, Post Malone, former EastEnders star Alex Ferns, Mindhunter’s Holt McCallany and Josh Hartnett round out the cast.
