Zack Snyder’s Justice League, or #TheSnyderCut, has finally arrived, and the director has thanked fans for their “overwhelming” support of the film.
The theatrical version of Justice League was taken over by Joss Whedon partway through filming after Snyder stepped down following the death of his daughter, so the final movie was a mix of both directors’ visions.
Fans have been impressed with the four-hour movie, praising better character arcs and development, and Snyder said the messages he’s received following the premiere “has made it all worth it”.
In a video posted on Twitter, Snyder said: “The day is finally here and I wanted to say thanks to all the fans again. Seeing your messages and your responses to the film has made it all worth it.”
“For those of you who stayed up all night in the US to watch, and to fans getting up early this morning to watch in Europe and Asia, I heard that we may have overloaded a few of the platforms with your interest, which actually means the world to me.”
“We’re working on that, so stay tuned. You guys are the best, thanks again
There was a big technical glitch at the virtual premiere, which meant fans were left in limbo for hours waiting for a Q&A with the director.
As it finally got under way, an HBO Max spokesperson explained: “We know many of you have been waiting for this moment since 2017. Today was not how we envisioned how our virtual premiere would begin, and we want to express our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused by this delay.
“We know many of you have made special arrangements to enjoy the virtual event, and we share your disappointment that things haven’t gone as planned.”
