An Italian army tank killed a large number of chickens after it mistakenly fired a shell at a poultry farm in the northeast of the country during a live ammunition exercise.
The ANSA news agency stated that the accident occurred when a “Centauro” anti-tank brigade “Pozzuolo del Friuli” was participating in night maneuvers at a firing range near Vivaro, an hour’s drive north of Venice.
The “stray” shell killed a large number of chickens, and a section of the building that housed these poultry collapsed.
The Pordenone District Prosecutor opened an investigation, and stopped the four armored vehicles that were participating in these exercises.
