A digital work by American artist Mike Winkelman, known as “Pebble”, has been sold for $ 69.3 million, according to a statement by Christie’s auction house.

The work titled “Everyday the First 5000 Days” is a collection of 5,000 pictures, each of which was designed by computer on a daily basis over a period of more than thirteen years.

“The first day of bidding was one of the most glamorous events in my career in auctions, and I’ve never seen anything like this before,” said Noah Davis of Christie’s, who organized the sale.

The work was sold for $ 69,346,250 paid by the buyer Metacovan in cryptocurrency.

In its statement, the company said Metacovan, whose real name has not been revealed, is the founder of Metaphores, the largest non-divestible digital asset fund.
