A 5-magnitude earthquake hits southeast Iran

The Seismological Center of the Geophysical Institution at the University of Tehran confirmed, on Sunday, that an earthquake measuring 5 degrees on the Richter scale struck the southeastern province of Kerman.

The center stated that “the earthquake occurred in Faryab, south of the governorate,” determining its center “at the confluence of latitude 57.02 degrees north and longitude 28.16 degrees east, and at a depth of 18 kilometers below the surface of the earth.”

For his part, the Executive Director of the Iranian Red Crescent Society in Kerman province stated that “the earthquake did not cause human or material losses as it occurred in a mountainous area.”
