Bolivian media reported that the country’s former president, Janine Anez, was hiding in a box under the bed, while police raided her relatives’ home to arrest her.
The sources indicated that “the politician was found in the home of her relatives, who tried to prevent her arrest. As a result, the police were forced to detain 3 people, including her daughter.”

Anez is expected to testify in the near future on the coup case last year, as her arrest warrant was previously issued by the Bolivian Anti-Corruption Attorney General Omar Sidis, who accused her of terrorism, treason and conspiracy.

The measures come in light of the issuance of the prosecution on corruption cases in Bolivia, on Friday, arrest warrants against Anez and 10 officials in her government, including former ministers, on charges of terrorism, high treason and criminal complicity.

The orders were issued as part of the prosecution’s investigation into the events in the country in late October-November 2019, when large-scale popular demonstrations forced former President Evo Morales to leave his post, as the prosecution considers these events a coup against power.

Morales’ socialists returned to power in the country as a result of the elections that took place last October.
