A recent US study revealed that children aged 9-11 years in the United States who spend more time in front of screens are more likely to have binge eating disorder.

The study showed, according to the American network, “CNN”, that social media is the main reason, and that every hour a child spends on these means has a 62% higher risk of developing a binge disorder within one year, while every hour they spend watching TV Or movies have a 39% higher risk.

“Children may be more likely to overeat while being distracted in front of screens,” said Jason Nagata, assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco and lead author of the study, in a press release.

It is noteworthy that Binge Eating Disorder is one of the most common atypical eating disorders, and it is likely to cause obesity, as this disorder is characterized by eating large amounts of food without the presence of the so-called compensatory behavior, such as vomiting or the use of laxatives.

It is estimated that 20% of those who seek help to get rid of obesity suffer from this disorder, and people with this disorder often suffer from large fluctuations in weight because it often causes great anxiety.
