A dog protected a group of young rabbits after losing their mother, and the animals and birds of prey would almost prey on them had they not entered it.

A compassionate dog named “Otis” appeared in a video clip licking newborn rabbits “to make them feel safe,” his owner, Gina Leigel, told the Daily Star.

Lygel added that Otis “feels proud” of his heroic work, after this six-year-old dog discovered, during his daily outing, the little rabbits that emerged from their nest and were exposed to predators, so he decided to take charge of their protection.

The video shows the dog gathering baby rabbits with its mouth and licking them gently in an attempt to calm them.

Otis’ “heroic” action saved the rabbits from predators such as falcons that dotted the area to hunt their prey.

Angel, a 31-year-old dancer, was able to collect the baby rabbits and return them to their mother in the nearby nest.
