The birth of a rare animal in Britain

53

The Chester Zoo in northwestern Britain witnessed the birth of a female “Okap”, who was called “Nia Nia”. Surveillance cameras recorded the moment of birth of this endangered exotic animal.

The Okapi is a strange animal with a brown color, gray face, and black and white striped legs. These markings are believed to help youngsters track their mothers in dense forests, and they also serve as camouflage. It has a long blue tongue similar to that of a giraffe that it uses to align its ears, and two horns above its head. The most important characteristic of the Akkab is that its two hind legs resemble the two legs of a zebra, which caused an imbalance in scholars’ belief of its type or that it has an independent lineage. Okapi animals are famous for their shyness, so they are difficult to see in the forests.
