Chrissy Teigen speaks out in support of Meghan Markle

Chrissy Teigen has spoken out in support of Meghan Markle, ahead of her and Prince Harry’s in-depth interview with Oprah Winfrey, which is set to land this weekend.

Referencing the attention currently surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Chrissy wrote that it was “hitting too close to home”, urging those responsible to “stop it”.

Sharing her thoughts on Twitter, Chrissy defended the Duchess, who is currently pregnant, writing, “this meghan markle sh*t is hitting too close to home for me. these people won’t stop until she miscarries. f*cking stop it.”

It’s not clear exactly what Chrissy is referring to in her tweet. However, Meghan is currently experiencing increased public attention ahead of her and Prince Harry’s in-depth interview with Oprah Winfrey (which airs in the States on Sunday and in the UK on Monday night).

After the first trailer for the interview was released last week, allegations also emerged about Meghan having been at the centre of a bullying complaint during her time at Kensington Palace.

The Times published a report sourced from palace aides, suggesting that one of the Duchess of Sussex’s former advisors had filed a bullying complaint against her while she was a working member of the royal family. Meghan’s representatives quickly released a rebuttal of the accusations, saying she was “saddened by this latest attack on her character,” and pointed out that the timing of such claims (just before the interview is aired) doesn’t feel all that coincidental. Her lawyers told the Times it was “being used by Buckingham Palace to peddle a wholly false narrative based on misleading and harmful misinformation.”

In response, Buckingham Palace released a statement to say it was investigating the circumstances of allegations, because they are “very concerned” and “will not tolerate bullying or harassment in the workplace.”

Chrissy Teigen’s tweet comes just over three months after Meghan tragically revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage earlier in 2020.

Meanwhile, Chrissy Teigen and her husband John Legend announced the sad loss of their baby, Jack, back in October.

This isn’t the first time Chrissy has taken to social media in support of Meghan. Back in November, in a now-deleted tweet, Chrissy defended the Duchess in response to criticism over her New York Times essay ‘ The Losses We Share’, in which Meghan disclosed the loss of her unborn second child.

On Twitter, one person stood up for the trolls criticising Meghan for talking openly about her heartache. “Is anyone really questioning the pain and sheer awfulness of suffering a miscarriage, or are they perhaps criticising Meghan’s decision to write a 1,000 word op-Ed about herself?” the user wrote, questioning: “What does it add to the resources already available for those who go through a tragedy like this?”

Upon seeing this perspective, Chrissy tweeted: “Award for today’s absolute piece of sh*t goes to [name of user]. Congratulations, piece of sh*t.”

In hindsight, Chrissy decided to delete her tweet, exchanging it for a post that read: “Sorry forgot I’m trying to be nicer lol.”
