Black Widow’s Florence Pugh is centre stage in a new look at Don’t Worry Darling, Olivia Wilde’s upcoming psychological thriller.
Wilde – who will direct and star in the film – took to Instagram today (March 4) to share a brand new image of Pugh in action.
While it’s not exactly clear what’s going on in the shot, it does feature a nice bit of lens flare and some lovely colours. She’s also flanked by what appears to be a number of menacing-looking men in red overalls.
The movie, which also stars Harry Styles and Wonder Woman’s Chris Pine, follows a 1950s housewife (Pugh) who slowly begins to question her own sanity as she starts to notice strange occurrences in her small, utopian community in the California desert.
The star-studded cast also includes Gemma Chan, Nick Kroll and KiKi Layne, while Wilde and Katie Silberman have written the script.
Last month, Wilde also provided a sneak peek at Harry Styles in the film, sharing an old-school Hollywood image of the former One Direction star sitting on top of a car.
Alongside the black-and-white shot, Wilde – who is rumoured to be dating Styles – praised the actor for his willingness to play a supporting role in a female-led film.
“Little known fact: most male actors don’t want to play supporting roles in female-led films,” the Booksmart director wrote.
“The industry has raised them to believe it lessens their power (i.e. financial value) to accept these roles, which is one of the reasons it’s so hard to get financing for movies focusing on female stories.
“No joke, it is harrrrrd to find actors who recognize why it might be worth it to allow for a woman to hold the spotlight. Enter: @harrystyles, our ‘Jack’.”
