The General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia announced the start of receiving international flights at Prince Abdul Majeed bin Abdulaziz Airport in Al-Ula.
The authority’s approval was issued to start receiving international flights at Al-Ula Airport, after it fulfilled all operational requirements in accordance with international standards and in line with the needs of the competent authorities operating at the airport, according to the authority’s statement.

Since August 2019, Al-Ula Airport has witnessed a number of development projects implemented by the authority in cooperation with the Royal Commission for Al-Ula Governorate to keep pace with the expected growth of air traffic in the region as a global destination, and in line with Vision 2030.
The development work included doubling the capacity from 100,000 to 400,000 passengers annually, while the total area of the airport reached about 2.4 million square meters.
The airport includes several facilities and services, including the executive lounge, which was designed according to the latest international standards, with the increase in the capabilities of the aviation yard to be among the 10 largest airports in the Kingdom with an area of 49 thousand square meters, which can accommodate 15 commercial aircraft.
