While Meghan and Harry have stepped back from their royal life and pursued media careers, Meghan and new mother Princess Eugenie have reportedly bonded over pregnancies. Meghan Markle is mother to Archie Harrison, who will turn two in May, and Princess Eugenie welcomed her first son in February 2021 with husband Jack Brooksbank.
Princess Eugenie welcomed her first child, a son named August, around the same time Meghan and her husband Prince Harry announced they were expecting their second child.
A source told US Weekly: “Eugenie is really the only member of the royal family that Meghan is still close to.”
The source said they “are sort of an unlikely pair, but remain in contact”, adding that the pair have bonded over their pregnancies.
The two being a close fit has not gone undocumented, with the royal pair reportedly being close thanks to Harry’s close relationship with his cousin.
Finding Freedom authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand have written about their especially close relationship while the Duke of Sussex was still a key member of the family.
Finding Freedom explains: “Out of all the Queen’s grand-children, Harry and Eugenie have one of the most natural connections.
“Like Harry, Eugenie is loyal, honest and great fun.
“The two had many nights out together in London.”
The authors also detailed how the cousins are apparently “the closest of friends”.
When Harry went public with his relationship with Meghan, Eugenie “welcomed Meghan enthusiastically”, according to the highly popular biography.
The Princess also reportedly “told friends she loved Meghan”, adding that she was “just the tonic” for her cousin Harry.
Eugenie and Meghan have shared a number of similarities, including getting married at St George’s chapel just months apart in 2018.
