Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko confirmed that Moscow will respond to the new individual sanctions that Brussels decided to impose on Russian officials over the arrest of opposition Alexei Navalny.

Today, Monday, Groshko said in response to a press question: “Of course, when the act takes place, there will be a reaction on our part,” without specifying the nature of the Russian response, noting that it is not feasible at present to launch any speculation in this regard.

Groshko added that the European Union’s approval of the sanctions related to the Navalny case did not surprise Moscow, stressing that such measures destroy bilateral relations.

The permanent representatives of the member states of the European Union launched, during their meeting in Brussels today, Monday, technical measures to issue a new list of sanctions for violations of human rights, which are supposed to include Russian officials in connection with the arrest of Navalny, after the “agreement” made by the bloc in this regard on February 22 last year. .
