The Iranian Foreign Ministry summons the Turkish ambassador to Tehran

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has summoned Turkey’s ambassador to Tehran, Derya Urs, against the backdrop of statements by the Turkish Interior Minister about the PKK presence in Iran.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry handed the Turkish ambassador a protest note against the statements of the Turkish Interior Minister, describing it as unacceptable.

The ministry also criticized the statement of the Turkish ambassador to Iraq and considered it unjustified.

This came, a few hours after the Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned, on Sunday, Tehran’s ambassador to Ankara, against the backdrop of Iranian statements accusing Turkey of violating the sovereignty of Iraq.

The Iranian ambassador to Iraq, Erin Masjedi, said, “We reject military intervention in Iraq, and Turkish forces must in no way be a threat to Iraqi lands, nor should they occupy it.”

He added, “The Turks should withdraw to their international border lines and deploy there, and the Iraqis themselves should take charge of ensuring the security of Iraq.”

The Turkish ambassador to Baghdad, Fatih Yildiz, responded to my mosque, saying that “the ambassador of Iran will be the last to deliver a lecture to Turkey on respecting the borders of Iraq.”
