Myanmar: At least 7 demonstrators were killed and others wounded by police bullets

Reuters reported, citing political and medical sources, that Myanmar police shot protesters today, Sunday, killing at least seven and wounding several people.
“Reuters” indicated that Myanmar police fired bullets in different parts of Yangon, the largest city, after stun grenades and tear gas cannibalize the crowd, as the police received support from army soldiers.

Pictures reported by the media showed that a number of protesters transported the injured, showing the presence of blood traces on the ground.

For his part, a doctor working in a hospital told “Reuters” that a man died after being taken to the hospital with a bullet in the chest.

A woman was also killed as a result of a suspected heart attack, after the police dispersed a protest by teachers with sound bombs in the city, according to what Reuters quoted her daughter and a colleague as saying.

According to “Reuters”, the politician, Kyaw Min Htiki, confirmed that the police shot dead in his city, Dawei, in the south of the country, killing three and wounding several others, while the “Myanmar Now” media agency reported that two people were killed during a protest in the city of Mandalay.

Neither the police nor the spokesman for the ruling military council responded to requests for comment.

Residents and media outlets reported that the police broke up protests in other towns, including Lacheu in the northeast and Meek in the far south.
