The United States said Saturday that it was “extremely concerned” about Russia’s “intolerance” of freedom of expression, on the sixth anniversary of the assassination of Boris Nemtsov, one of Vladimir Putin’s most prominent critic.
In a statement, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said, “Those who defend their freedom and democracy in Russia are still the target of attacks and assassinations. The Russian people deserve better than that.”
