The authorities of “Uttarakhand” state in northern India announced Saturday that the number of victims of the India Dam disaster has risen to 72, and the search for the missing is still going on.
The statement issued by the police stated, “So far, 72 bodies and 30 parts of human remains have been recovered from various places.”
She added, “One of the bodies has been identified, while the DNA of the bodies that have not been identified is being analyzed.”
He continued, “So far 205 people have been reported missing in the Goshimath Police Department.”
Flood water flowed from the dam in abundance and submerged the area in its path, and the water also destroyed two hydroelectric projects, which resulted in large numbers of deaths, in addition to endangering the lives of hundreds of others, and it is believed that the majority of the missing are workers in these projects.
Rescue teams immediately rushed to rescue efforts in many areas, including a tunnel that extends more than 200 meters in length to rescue the stranded.
The authorities paid members of the security forces, paramilitaries and military helicopters, along with local residents, to assist in the rescue efforts.
