According to our correspondent in Iran, according to state TV, two policemen were killed as a result of an unknown shooting attack at a police checkpoint on the Gumishan Bridge in Ilam, in the west of the country.
The television pointed out that “the accident resulted in the death of the policeman, Muhammad Mahdi Dreikund, while the first Lieutenant, Ruhullah Basra, was wounded, and was subsequently transferred to medical centers for treatment, to be announced later that he died of his wounds.”
The source did not give further details about the incident, while no party has claimed responsibility for the operation.
Ilam is located on the border with Iraq, where it has previously witnessed sporadic attacks against police forces and the Revolutionary Guard, by opposition groups.
