Long Weekend’s first trailer has been released, with its leading stars being American Horror Story’s Finn Wittrock and The OA’s Zoë Chao.
The movie is based around Bart (played by Wittrock), Vienna (played by Chao) and their chance encounter. After they meet, the pair end up spending a whirlwind weekend with one another. Long Weekend sees the couple fall in love quickly and deeply, but as they both carry secrets, Bart and Vienna are forced to confront what they’re hiding in order to move forward and have a fresh start.
Long Weekend is expected to arrive in US cinemas from March 12, while there is still no confirmed release date for the UK.
The movie’s global distribution rights have been acquired by Stage 6 Films, a production arm of Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions, Deadline reports.
The movie has been written by Steve Basilone, while Long Weekend will also see him make his film directorial debut. Basilone was a producer and writer for The Goldbergs and has written for other TV shows such as Happy Endings and Community. He was also a producer for The Michael J. Fox Show.
In addition to casting Wittrock and Chao in the leading roles, the cast also includes Casey Wilson (Happy Endings and American Dad), Jim Rash (Reno 911! and Harley Quinn), and Damon Wayans, Jr. (New Girl and Happy Endings).
Long Weekend is being produced by Deanna Barillari, Laura Lewis, Theodora Dunlap, Sam Bisbee, Audrey Rosenberg and Jess Jacobs, while Franklin Carson, Lance Acord, and Jackie Kelman Bisbee serve as executive producers on the project.
