American sprinter Holloway achieves a 60-meter hurdles record

American runner Grant Holloway, 23, broke the world record for Britain’s Colin Jackson in a 60-meter hurdles in an indoor arena, at the Madrid Athletics meeting on Wednesday.

Holloway, the world champion of the 110-meter hurdles in 2019, set a new record of 7.29 seconds, breaking the previous record set by British Jackson in March 1994.

Holloway scored 7.32 seconds in the qualifiers, and he launched the final race in his familiar fashion on his way to the new record, with Britain’s Andrew Pozzi finishing second with 7.51 seconds.

Holloway has not suffered a loss in 41 races in the 60-meter hurdles since its inaugural adult races less than four years ago.
