US Defense Secretary: We must unite against the rise of Russia and China

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said on Friday that “China is the first challenge facing the United States now” and that his country “is committed to defending the world order that China has undermined.”

“We must unite against the rise of Russia, China, terrorism and the situation in Afghanistan,” Austin added in a press conference from the headquarters of the Pentagon.

The US Secretary of Defense affirmed that “the United States will not withdraw hastily from Afghanistan, and that it will consult with allies about the next steps,” adding: “We will not allow Afghanistan to become a haven for terrorist groups.”
