The hotel and casino of former US President Donald Trump were demolished in the city of “Atlantic City” in the state of New Jersey, today, Wednesday.
The Trump Hotel and Trump Plaza Casino, where movie stars, athletes and rock stars used to party, turned into a pile of rubble this Wednesday morning, shortly after 9:00 a.m. (14:00 GMT) into a pile of rubble, according to the Associated Press American Press.A series of loud explosions shook the building around 9 am, and it began to collapse almost like a wave from back to front until it landed directly in a giant cloud of dust that covered the beach and the boardwalk in general, and it took less than 20 seconds for the structure to collapse.
Trump Plaza casino opened in 1984 and closed since 2014, and it was Trump’s first property in the American coastal gambling town where he owned several properties.
Since 2016, the two-building complex has been the property of billionaire investor Carl C. Icahn, who was one of Trump’s main financiers in Atlantic City.
In mid-June 2020, Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small announced the demolition of the building, after taking legal action on what he considered a threat to residents, but he did not say what he would do in the area after the demolition.
Trump filed a lawsuit in 2014, requesting that his name be removed from the front of the building, believing that his presence there was bad for Trump’s name and trademark.
