Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara should “avoid any terrorist attack similar to the Gara massacre,” stressing that “Turkey will remain in the areas it entered and achieved security as required by necessity.”
Erdogan pointed out that “the hypocrisy of the supporters of the terrorist organization PKK (the Kurdistan Workers Party) raises our anger, and confirms the validity of the steps we take and the policies that we follow,” noting that “Turkey is fighting a terrorist organization whose history is full of massacres against civilians, the last of which is the execution of unarmed people without Mercy”.
He added, “We will expand the scope of our military operations against terrorists in the next stage to the areas that pose a threat to us,” noting that Turkey “will find the terrorists and bury them in their dens in which they hide.”
And he continued, “With the exception of some quiet voices, we have not heard a comment from the Western world on the Gara massacre in northern Iraq.”
Last Sunday, Turkey said that “fighters from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) executed 13 Turks, including soldiers and police personnel, during a military operation against the group.”
