Saudis attack Erdogan for calling 2021 “Haji Baktash Wali”

“Al-Quds Al-Arabi”:

Saudi tweeters launched an attack on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for naming “Haji Bektash Wali” in 2021, in honor of the Sufi Sheikh who lived during the Ottoman Empire.

Haji Bektash Wali or Haji Baktash Wali is a cleric, Sufi poet, and Islamic philosopher. He lived in the period of the Seljuk state, and continued with the Ottoman Empire, where he was in charge of formations called “the Ahlik”. Baktash Wali was a follower of Ali bin Abi Talib, the cousin of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Bektash was loved by the sultans in the Ottoman Empire and trained army soldiers at a certain period of time by him.

Saudi tweeters linked Iran and Turkey because of Erdogan’s name on the year 2021, considering that the teachings of “Bektashiyya” belong to the Twelver method.

A tweet, attacking the Turkish president and the Muslim Brotherhood movement, published an image that speaks of the Bektashiyya beliefs and traditions dating back to the Twelver method, without confirmation from independent sources.Turkish websites said that Erdogan’s decree stated that Bektashiy are a “mixture of Sufism and Shiism,” and that it contributed to the formation of the social identity in Anatolia and the Balkans.Munther Al Sheikh Mubarak said on Twitter, “In the nomination of Erdogan 2021 Haji Bektaş, I confirm that Erdogan and Khamenei share hatred against Arabs, from two chapters, the chapter on the race and the door on faith! I tell the Arabs who are fighting under the banner of Iran or Turkey in Syria, Libya, Yemen and Iraq that if you fought under a Turkish flag, the interest is Persian and vice versa. The political writer Khaled al-Zaatar linked Iran and Turkey, and considered that naming the year with this name “confirms the certainty” about that. He said, “Erdogan’s naming of the year 2021 with the name of # Hajj Bektas_wali confirms that Iran and Turkey are two sides of the same coin, and the funny thing is that the Muslim Brotherhood and the remnants of the Awakening were calling earlier for an alliance with Turkey in the face of Iran.”
