Her Majesty enjoys seeing her great-grandson, who lives in the United States, over video call, according to a royal expert. The pair have a “very special relationship”, and although now they are separated due to coronavirus travel restrictions, the Queen was able to spend time with Archie when he was younger.
Prince Harry is expected to travel to the UK in the coming months, notably in the summer for various events, including the unveiling of Kensington Palace’s Princess Diana statue.
However, his wife and son may not travel with him, according to the Daily Mail.
Omid Scobie, co-author of Finding Freedom, said Meghan’s potential decision to stay in the US is not meant to be a “snub” to the Royal Family.
He explained Meghan would accompany her husband if it was not as inconvenient to travel amid potential coronavirus restrictions.
The author told OK!: “Neither Meghan nor Harry have been vaccinated and travel plans are still very much up in the air.
“Meghan wouldn’t want to be away from Archie and it would be very tricky to factor a small child into their travels with all the restrictions that could potentially be in place.”
He added: “It seems easier at this moment for Harry to do the trip solo.
“But it is not Meghan’s intention to snub the family. If COVID wasn’t a factor, she would be there.”
The expert added the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex were able to strengthen their family’s bond with the monarch thanks to their time spent at Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate prior to their departure from the UK.
He said: “No matter what has happened, the Queen will always remain close to Harry and Meghan.
“She has a very special relationship with Archie and due to them all living in Windsor, was one of the royals to spend the most time with him as a baby.
