Ethiopian intelligence announces thwarting an attack on the UAE embassy

The official Ethiopian News Agency, citing the intelligence service, stated that the authorities had arrested 15 people on charges of plotting to launch an attack on the UAE embassy in Addis Ababa.

The agency said that the group was working under the guidance of foreigners, and that an amount of weapons, explosives and documents were seized during the operation.

“The group received the mission from a foreign terrorist group and was preparing to inflict severe damage to property and lives,” she said.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not respond to a request for comment.
