Timothée Chalamet reuniting with Call Me By Your Name director in Bones & All

Timothée Chalamet is reportedly set to reunite with Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino – but the project they have in mind isn’t the sequel to the 2017 romantic drama.

Instead, the pair could be about to work together on something very different in the form of a horror movie themed around a young woman’s cannibalistic desires.

Deadline reports that Chalamet will star in Guadagnino’s new movie Bones & All, which is based on the novel of the same name by Camille DeAngelis and centres around a young woman named Maren Yearly who, from an early age, has suffered from a compulsion to eat the people she loves.

Maren and her mother spend Maren’s childhood moving around in order to keep Maren’s secret hidden, until she is abandoned on her sixteenth birthday. She then decides to track down her father, who she has never known, as she tries to gain an understanding of why she has the thoughts that she does.

Chalamet’s role has not yet been confirmed, while Lost in Space and Waves actress Taylor Russell has reportedly been cast as Maren.

Bones & All will be another horror string to Guadagnino’s bow, who in 2018 remade Italian horror Suspiria. The script is being written by The Terror writer Dave Kajganich.

Chalamet has a big 2021 lined up, as he stars in upcoming sci-fi reboot Dune as well as Wes Anderson’s comedy drama The French Dispatch.

After the huge success of Call Me By Your Name, which won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, Guadagnino has confirmed that a sequel is in the works and that it will likely be set “five or six years” after the original movie.

We don’t yet have any details about when we might expect to see the movie, but Chalamet’s co-star Armie Hammer has suggested that there should be a significant gap in between movies, saying that the story “needs room to breathe”.

“So many people are emotionally invested in Call Me by Your Name that, if we made a second one now, no matter what, you’re just setting yourself up for failure,” he explained.
