The Mentalist’s Simon Baker and wife Rebecca Rigg split after 22 year marriage

Simon Baker and his wife Rebecca Rigg are to separate after nearly 30 years together, they have confirmed.

They ‘quietly split’ last April but have made the decision to announce the news nine months on.

Australian actor Simon, 51, and Rebecca, 53, met in the early 90s and have been married for 22 years.

They have three children together – Stella, 27, Claude, 22, and Harry, 19 – and vowed to stay close for their sake.

The former couple released a short joint statement to People Magazine confirming that it is all over between them.

They said: “We remain close friends and our three children will always be the most important focus of our lives.”

Simon and Rebecca tied the knot in 1998 after five years living together.

He spoke to the publication in 2018 and said they never celebrated their wedding anniversary.

The Mentalist star said: “We’ve never really been big on it. Anniversaries, they’re an odd thing, aren’t they?

“I think we put too much pressure on it. It’s not like that with us. We’re a team.

“Most of the time, 99 per cent of the time, we’re really great friends. So I don’t need to mark it with great things.”

Rebecca is best known for her roles in films Fatty Finn and Ellie Parker.

Simon also spoke in 2018 about the most important things in their 22 years marriage.

He said: “I think the most important thing in our relationship is that we’re both able to be ourselves. I think it’s probably the most important thing in most relationships, isn’t it?”

They will continue to put kids Stella, Claude and Harry first and the former couple will remain close, despite going their separate ways.
