“Lean” gets rid of a hard disk with “millions of dollars” on it

British tech expert James Howells did not know that throwing a hard disk drive in 2013 would cost him a great loss, worth millions of dollars.

According to the “Business Insider” website, James disposed of a hard disk containing 7,500 Bitcoin years ago, that digital currency that was of modest value in 2013, while the price of one of them at the moment of writing these lines exceeded the barrier of 36 thousand dollars.

And with a quick math, James has thrown more than $ 270 million in the trash, after he thought he had backed up the data he had.

After Bitcoin’s meteoric rise, James asked his city council in Newport, Wales, to conduct searches in the landfill that he thought the hard drive had ended up in.

“CNN” quoted James as saying, “I will donate $ 71 million to the Newport municipality, to distribute it to residents in the city if they find the hard drive.”

“Every citizen in Newport will get $ 239, but my request was rejected, and even the city council refused to meet me in an attempt to convince them,” he added.
