Changing the starting date of the FIFA Clubs World Cup in Qatar due to the withdrawal of a team from it

FIFA announced the amendment of the start of the FIFA Club World Cup, which was scheduled to be held during the period between February 1 and 11 next, in Qatar.

In a statement on its official website, FIFA stated that the federation decided to amend the tournament schedule after the Auckland City team withdrew from participating in the World Cup, due to the new health measures taken in the country due to the new Corona virus pandemic.

And the International Federation of the Game stressed that the shape of the competition has not changed, but it will be held on only two stadiums, Education City and Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium, while Khalifa International Stadium, which was scheduled to host two matches, will not be used.

The “FIFA” stated that the first match in the competition will be held on February 4 instead of February 1, while the final will be held at Education City Stadium on the 11th of the same month.

The competition was limited to the Club World Cup, after the withdrawal of Auckland City, between Qatar’s Al-Duhail (the host), Al-Ahly (the African champion), Bayern Munich (European champion), South Korean Ulsan Hyundai (Asian champion), and Mexican Tigers (champion) CONCACAF), in addition to the winner of the “Copa Libertadores” champion, representing South America, and will be decided in the final, which will bring together the Brazilian teams Santos and Palmeiras, on January 30th.

The draw is scheduled to take place tomorrow, Tuesday, in the Swiss city of Zurich.
