Emily Mitchell, an influencer who passed away just before Christmas, died of a pulmonary embolism, her family has revealed.

The American influencer, who ran The Hidden Way blog and was pregnant with her fifth child, died suddenly three days before Christmas.

Emily, 36, was found ‘unresponsive’ by her husband Joseph.

The couple were having breakfast as normal on 22 December when she suddenly lost consciousness.

Now her family have revealed her cause of death on a GoFundMe set up to raise money for her grieving husband and children.

The statement read: “A few days ago we learned from the state Medical Examiners Office that the official cause of death was a pulmonary embolism.

“Although it is challenging to wrap our heads around how this could have happened, we know all first responders and medical personnel did everything they could to help, and therefore we are certain that it was simply her time; the Lord was calling her home.”

According to the Mayo Clinic: “Pulmonary embolism is a blockage in one of the pulmonary arteries in your lungs. In most cases, pulmonary embolism is caused by blood clots that travel to the lungs from deep veins in the legs or, rarely, from veins in other parts of the body.

Emily, who was mum to four kids; Finn, Isla, Edie and Lulu, announced her fifth pregnancy in November on Instagram.

She proudly home schooled her four children, and the family was excited to be welcoming a fifth member this year.

In November Emily revealed she was expecting her fifth child with a photo of a sonogram image alongside her husband.

She had already planned the birth and was scheduled for a C-section.

At the time, Emily wrote a post reminding her followers that all births are an equal achievement.

“You are no less a mother if you needed emergency medical intervention, had a planned c-section, or an epidural. You aren’t a ‘better’ mother if you had a home birth or an unmedicated vaginal birth,” she wrote.

An online obituary described the online star as “a devoted wife and incredible mother to her four children.”
