The Foreign Ministry classifies the chief of staff of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces as a “terrorist”.

The US State Department announced, on Wednesday, adding the name of the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces, Abdulaziz Al-Muhammadawi, known as “Abu Fadak”, to the terrorist lists because of his links with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, the Iraqi “Hezbollah Brigades”, the kidnapping of protesters, and his control. Iraqi security institutions must act to “serve Iran.”

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website, that the decision regarding Al-Muhammadawi is “included in the list of Executive Order 13224”.

She added, “Al-Muhammadawi is the former Secretary-General of Kataib Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, which seeks to support Tehran’s agenda in the region,” and has claimed responsibility for “many terrorist acts in Iraq.”
