Spanish football club Barcelona announced the absence of Brazilian international midfielder Felipe Coutinho for “at least three months”, after undergoing a “successful” operation on his left knee on Saturday.
Coutinho, 28, suffered a cartilage injury to his left knee in the stoppage time of the match against Eibar (1-1) Tuesday when he entered a substitute.
Coutinho became the third player away from Barcelona for a long time due to injury, after Ansu Fati and defender Gerard Pique, who in turn suffered a knee injury.Coutinho has played 14 games with Barcelona this season, scoring three goals and two assists.
Barcelona are struggling this season and are ten points behind leaders Atlético de Madrid, who have played fewer games.
