Ritt Momney Earns First Hot 100 Hit With Cover of Corinne Bailey Rae’s ‘Put Your Records On’

Salt Lake City-based Ritt Momney scores his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 (dated Oct. 10), as his viral cover of Corinne Bailey Rae’s 2006 hit “Put Your Records On” arrives at No. 96.

The track debuts with 5.8 million U.S. streams (up 12%) and 1,000 downloads sold in the week ending Oct. 1, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

Momney’s version concurrently jumps 74-55 on the newly-launched Billboard Global 200 and 93-65 on the Billboard Global 200 Excl. U.S. chart.

Momney (real name: Jack Rutter, whose alias is a play on the name of Utah junior senator Mitt Romney), 20, recently signed to Disruptor/Columbia Records, sparked by the success of “Put Your Records On,” which has surged on TikTok.

Rae’s original recording became a crossover hit in 2006-07, reaching the top 10 on Adult Contemporary (No. 6), Adult Alternative Songs (No. 8) and Smooth Jazz Songs (No. 8), as well as No. 64 on the Hot 100.

Surely helped by the newfound attention of Momney’s cover, Rae’s original tallied 1.6 million U.S. streams in the latest tracking week, including 1.4 million on-demand streams. Over the past four weeks, her version has earned over 1.1 million on-demand streams each week. Before then, the song had not cracked 1 million in any frame this year, although it was steadily drawing over 800,000 each week.
